The aim of the operation:

 

The aim of the international conference entitled „The pros and cons of systemic solutions for the production, certification and distribution of PDO, PGI and TSG products in EU countries” is exchange and broadening of knowledge concerning systems solutions which involve manufacturing, certification and distribution of a regional product of animal origin in the EU states. The realization of the planned goal will be possible thanks to knowledge exchange, lectures and presentations delivered by scientists, producers, representatives of control bodies, extension workers from the Ministry of Agriculture and farmers from the EU states, including those from the region of the Mediterranean basin and also in practice through familiarizing oneself with manufacturing and marketing of chosen Polish regional and traditional products of animal origin.
Target group of the conference:
The target group of the action on the side of Poland includes researchers from research units (institutes, universities), active in the agricultural sector with a particular focus on the issues of regional product and high quality products of animal origin. In addition, the group on Polish and foreign side will be composed of the representatives of farmer and breeder organizations, advisory services, governmental and regional authorities and local government, foundation and control bodies interested in the subject matter.
The following was planned within the conference:
The conference will provide a forum for the exchange of experience and dissemination of knowledge about the functioning of various systems for the production, certification and distribution of PDO, PGI and TSG products in EU countries, including issues such as the contribution of national quality systems to production of enhanced quality food (Justyna Wasilewko – Centre of Quality AgroEko), market profitability of animal products with a protected designation of origin and with a protected geographical indication (Martino Cassandro – Italy), production and distribution of meat products from Mertolenga cattle (José Manuel Montes Pais – Portugal), breeding of Iberian pigs and distribution of chestnut ham, ‘jamón de castaña’ (Juan Carlos Torres Chacón – Spain), challenges associated with production of honeydew honey, ‘podkarpacki miód spadziowy’ (Janusz Kilar – Podkarpackie Agricultural Advisory Centre in Boguchwała), and many others.
Planned results:
Exchange, broadening and dissemination of knowledge on systems solutions of manufacturing, certification and distribution of the regional product of animal origin in the EU states. Publications relating to the current state of the issues of certified products of agricultural origin in the EU states, underlining the significance of manufacturing and dissemination of this kind of products not only in the form of promoting traditional high quality food but also in tourist popularization and economic support of the regions in which they are prepared.
